Ice Breaker

What are you thankful for?

Introductions

Enrichment Opportunities

GT Enrichment

Parent-supported projects

Grade-level pull out projects working well (for those participating)

Taking guidance from teacher, but not adding to their load

Additional Enrichment

Working on student action teams (e.g., safety patrol), Leader in me opportunities (teaching opportunities for younger kids). Looking for opportunities for kids to step up as leaders.

Better communication around enrichment opportunities campus-wide (to come from school leadership)

In every classroom, students are required to have jobs to develop leadership.

Gardening

Looking to start a garden behind the shed. Identified a kindergarten parent to lead. Principal Hosack to review grant to ensure we meet grant requirements. Could be a great opportunities for special ed/life skills

Member questions

Upbeat Survey

Above district average on key areas (examples below)

93% of teacher feel supported by the Principal

95% of teachers thought they could build trusting relationships with parents 90% of teachers see themselves returning

95% of teachers feel people care about them are Brentwood

Biggest area of growth is around diversity

Focus for hiring and recruiting

We are taking part in SEAT (training around cultural implicitness bias) 20% of teachers feel like that cannot handle the stress of the job (looking for ways to bolster)

CIP (Campus Improvement Plan)

Focus on MAAP to measure student growth

We are very high achieving in MAP but have lower growth scores. Looking to improve on growth target (individualize by student)

Goal of 57% in growth overall.

If kids are not hitting target, asking why and looking at where it is appropriate to push.

Focus on Leader in Me – goal setting focus

Parent meetings for focus community/parent around specific topics (i.e., safety language)

Full report will be available on the webpage

Consider how we can work more directly with the CAC on developing this plan (timing is tricky based on STAAR testing)
