Brentwood Elementary Gifted and Talented Information
The Gifted and Talented (GT) nomination and testing process occurs two times a year; in the Fall and Spring semesters. The attached powerpoint provides more information about the nomination process and includes specific timelines for each semester. Please click the link below If you would like to nominate your child for GT testing. Since the district has transitioned to all electronic nominations and documents, please complete all forms electronically and submit them to Emily Stewart (firstname.lastname@example.org), the counselor and GT coordinator at Brentwood. You will receive a response upon receipt of the forms.
A word of advice: We like to encourage testing in 2nd grade and older due to the required testing for GT, which is entirely computer-based. It is often harder for children in the younger grades to focus and perform their best. Also, remember that getting a teacher’s opinion on the nomination can be helpful. At Brentwood, teachers in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades are all GT-trained and have access to GT curriculum to integrate into the classroom for all students. Brentwood does not have a pull-out GT program, but instead GT students are given enrichment opportunities with other GT students within the classroom and offered differentiated instruction within the classroom.
